digging journalism
#1
The question of whether to adopt the self-names of certain groups and their codes or rather to fall back on the traditional cutlery has meanwhile also put some seasoned women's rights activists under pressure - for example the "Harry Potter" inventor Joanne K. Rowling, the British journalist Susanne Moore and the German feminism icon Alice Schwarzer. They are accused of transphobia because they have expressed themselves in an allegedly incorrect language or question it.

This digging journalism is also being conducted intensively in the media houses themselves - from newspaper publishers to radio stations and news agencies. What can be said how and by whom?

Not only words are controversial, but also comments, columns and caricatures. Some specify what is right and therefore socially acceptable. Others who fail to comply for good (and bad) reasons quickly find themselves exposed to allegations of discrimination.
