Payment Services Directive (PSD) is a European Union Directive on payment and settlement services. This Directive was adopted by the Council of the European Union in April 2001, and ratified by the European Parliament and the European Commission in November 2001. The purpose of this Directive is to harmonize national laws on payment service provider (PSP) activities across the European Union.

The Psd2 directive is a scheme that was launched by the EU to make sure that the data of the EU users is kept safe.
